Whitecode Consulting has provided Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEPH) designs and Utility and Sustainability services to a contemporary, new build residential property in south London.
Located in the London Borough of Southwark, Varcoe Road is a stylish and high-quality residential building, developed by Guildmore on behalf of Optivo Housing. The new nine storey building contains 74 apartments, including 37 one bedroom spaces, 34 two bedroom flats and three three-bedroom apartments, and 288 sqm of commercial workspace. Every residence has been crafted to optimise space while creating a homely atmosphere and communal areas, including terraces and play-space, have been incorporated into the design.
Starting work on the project in 2020, Whitecode Consulting worked in collaboration with Forge Architects to offer cohesive MEPH designs and utility and sustainability services to this residential development. The company completed the Stage 4 design for Guildmore and then was appointed by the mechanical and electrical contractors to complete the Stage 5 design and installation drawings. This was due to the amount of detail and co-ordination shown in the previous stage.
Whitecode Consulting provides comprehensive public health design services encompassing water supply and sanitation to create secure and efficient systems that benefit occupants, owners and the environment. Our team comprises skilled public health engineers who address various engineering challenges, including sustainability strategies, high-pressure booster water design and fire engineering.
Moreover, the client specified Whitecode Consulting due to its sustainability expertise. The sustainability team at Whitecode Consulting has a wealth of experience in dealing with all aspects of sustainable design from concept to completion, with an emphasis on a linked services approach to designed engineered solutions. This was especially invaluable due to the constrained site and windows being fixed shut due to fire issues. This meant that mechanical design solutions were required to meet Part F and Overheating requirements.
Whitecode Consulting’s service provision on Varcoe Road has ensured that Guildmore has benefitted from expert MEPH designs with integrated utility and sustainability services, as well as from excellent value for money. Likewise, Whitecode Consulting’s design aptitude has ensured that Varcoe Road’s residents will enjoy a sustainable, safely engineered building for years to come.
