Whitecode Consulting has provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Heating (MEPH) design consulting and Building Research Establishment Energy Assessment Method (BREEAM) for a new, modern leisure centre in Buckinghamshire.
Now complete, Kingsbrook Sports Pavilion is a brand new, stylish sports centre in Aylesbury which forms part of the Kingsbrook housing development. The sports pavilion offers Kingsbrook’s residents a variety of facilities, including three versatile grass pitches that can be used for a multitude of outdoor sports such as athletics, cricket, rugby and football. The centre also includes two full-size outdoor tennis courts for tennis enthusiasts to enjoy, as well as on-site changing rooms.
Whitecode Consulting worked alongside RCP Architects and main contractor Boom Construction to create a cohesive, energy efficient design on this new-build development. Boom Construction selected Whitecode as the design consultancy on this project as it offered excellent value for money.
Whitecode began working on Kingsbrook Sports Pavilion in January 2022 to provide the main contractor with MEPH and BREEAM services. Whitecode Consulting has experienced engineers who practice all kinds of MEPH design and provide advice from initial concept and through the design stages to project completion, thus ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, engineering and plumbing faculties were well-coordinated.
Moreover, the client looked to Whitecode for BREEAM services on this project. One of the world’s leading sustainability methods, BREEAM is a method for master planning projects, infrastructure and buildings. Its methodology allows buildings to be assessed in terms of design, construction and future-proofing, using a common framework and recognised scoring system.
Whitecode’s consultants possess the knowledge and experience to conceive BREEAM assessments, and are also highly adept at reviewing existing pre-assessments which have already been submitted during the planning process. Working with the Kingsbrook Sports Pavilion construction team, Whitecode evaluated the credits that had been suggested and completed due diligence. There are some credits which are mandatory to meet certain BREEAM targets but many are tradable. Whitecode explained the implications of these, in addition to providing support to complete further reports that complemented the overall BREEAM assessment.
Thanks to Whitecode’s expertise in MEPH design consulting and BREEAM services, residents of Kingsbrook can exercise in and enjoy a smart, sustainable and well-engineered sports pavilion for years to come.
