Located in Jersey’s capital Saint Helier, the former site of the Mayfair, Apollo and Revere hotels is being transformed by contractor Dandara (Jersey) for developer Andium Homes. It will see the creation of up to 405 high quality affordable homes, with sustainable provisions that are designed into the building so that it can exceed both planning policy and building regulation requirements. This will include a number of measures such as a fabric first approach with high levels of insulation, on site renewable regeneration and photovoltaic panels to offset carbon.
With extensive experience in the residential sector, Whitecode was appointed for this project as a result of its longstanding relationship with the client Dandara, not to mention Whitecode’s previous work with the developer.
Whitecode is offering its sustainability consultancy services. These services will assess whether the forthcoming scheme meets with Part L regulations and can perform sustainably and efficiently once in use. Dynamic thermal simulations will be part of this service and are included so that the building will not overheat and compromise residents’ comfort.
To anticipate the buildings’ energy performance and useage, Whitecode will perform SAP calculations for each apartment across the buildings, with consideration of the construction, commercial and technical requirements. To establish the buildings’ energy efficiency, Whitecode will carry out SBEM calculations in the buildings’ common areas. Both the SAP and SBEM calculations may require updating whilst the project is underway to accommodate any material change requests. Once the build is complete, as-built SAP and SBEM calculations will be produced.
Set for completion in 2025, Whitecode is delighted to be appointed to this regeneration project. It will deliver a cost effective and sustainable scheme, which is set to provide a significant reduction in its carbon footprint and much-needed affordable housing for the people of Jersey.
