Anglia Ruskin University is vacating its 3.4 hectare central campus just outside Chelmsford’s historic town centre. The relocation of the University’s facilities provides a major opportunity for the development of a masterplan which will include new public spaces and enhanced pedestrian routes to reintegrate the site and nearby transport hub with the town centre. It will also provide more than 800 mixed-tenure homes, and a sustainable mix of arts, commercial and retail uses.
Whitecode provided full mechanical and electrical designs for this scheme from stages A – E of the RIBA stages of work, then becoming the client’s Design Guardian for stages E – L. Whitecode also produced the energy strategy for the scheme to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes level 3.
